The LAKAY KALIKASAN MOUNTAINEERS and GREENPEACE International, in coooperation  with the University Student Council  Diliman,  will hold a symposium on the 28th of November from 8am to 12 pm at the UP Balay Kalinaw Conference Hall entitled "Waste Management as if the Future Mattered". Main speaker is Mr. Paul Connett a  world-renowned  environmental expert. Assisting him is Mr.  Von  GlennHernandez, GREENPEACE Toxic Campaigner for Southeast Asia.

1998 SIF-Asean Visiting Student Fellowship

The Singapore International Foundation (SIF) invites applications for the 1998 SIF-Asean Visiting Student Fellowship. The Fellowship provides an opportunity for the youth of Asean to study for one semester at a university in Singapore. It seeks to promote friendship and understanding among students of Asean through the experience of living and learning together. Aside from attending classes, student fellows will participate in discussions and dialogues with students and youth leaders in Singapore.

The Fellowship covers a full return airfare, tuition fees, accommodation and stipend for the student fellows. Candidates should be: full-time undergraduates at universities in Asean; above 18 years old; active in organising community and student activities; reasonably fluent in English; and nationals of the country in which they are studying. Successful candidates will be enrolled as non-graduating students at the Nanyang Technological University or the National University of Singapore for Semester One from 13 July 1998 to 14 November 1998.
